Swimming
There is much excitement about swimming! Today the first day seemed to go well. It was a free swim and learning lots of rules. The children also got taught a good way to dry themselves. This includes starting with drying your hair for the count of 20 hippopotamuses. Then dry top down. Next standing on your towel and getting dressed. The children were not placed in groups today.

Giant lollipop
It's something I rarely do, but couldn't help it! I gifted the children with a sweet treat on Monday morning to celebrate the student-led conferences. It was a giant lollipop, filled with 20 mini-lollipops! We had fun guessing what it was, opening it and of course reading was much more engaging whilst enjoying a lollipop! They were so quiet.
Spelling
The children are enjoying some different spelling activities. These include making words, a world wheel, pop spelling games and an individual word wall. At times, these activities will come home. If you wish, you can support some of this learning at home by celebrating their learning, maybe talking a little about the words and spelling partners you notice.
