Mealworm excitement!
The children adored getting their own animal. We have been studying, observing and learning about mealworms all week. We have noticed some have shed their skin and grown bigger. Some move less than others. They are different sizes. They drink the moisture from the carrots we feed them. We have had a variety of reactions to holding the mealworm. At first, most children were nervous, of course. Throughout the week more and more children are getting bolder and touching and carrying their mealworms. Please do not let the children look up mealworms on the internet, do not give away the secret of the life cycle. It is so wonderful when the children learn by watching it for themselves - thank you!
